Why Do Toddlers Fight Bedtime? Understanding Bedtime Battles

If you're the parent of a toddler, you've probably experienced the nightly bedtime battle. Just when you think your child is tired enough to fall asleep easily, they suddenly need another drink of water, one more bedtime story, another hug, or insist they're not tired at all.

While bedtime resistance can be frustrating, it's actually a normal part of toddler development. As children grow, they become more independent, curious, and aware of the world around them. At the same time, they still need 11 to 14 hours of sleep in a 24-hour period (including naps) to support healthy growth and brain development.
